Base Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Mayumi Terada, who lives and works in New York.
She has been creating her photographic work since 2001, with constructing interior house models then taking photos of them. In this second solo exhibition at Base Gallery, her view point stretches out from indoors to outdoors, and her work has increased its dymanism.

The process through constructing a model to shooting is a physical and direct work, however the completed photographic surface with no human figures exudes some sort of tension and sense of distance. When its viewers project their personal “stories”, like memories and feelings, upon the surface, they realise for the first time that these stories which are believed to be built up one by one are just “beautifully constructed fiction”.
Her tranquil images seem to be appealing strongly as they might be clearly showing the uncertainty of existence.

This exhibition includes some 20 photographic works.
