We are delighted to announce the opening of BASE GALLERY HAKATA in the enchanting historic district of Gokusho-Machi, conveniently located near Hakata. This area radiates serenity, surrounded by esteemed temples and rich historical heritage.

In celebration of our opening, we invite you to explore our inaugural exhibition, “Shape of Stillness,” which will be held as detailed below.

Yae Asano Giorgio Morandi Harry Callahan Megumi Ukisu Robert Mapplethorpe
John Jonas Gruen Hitoshi Karasawa Mario Giacomelli Aleksandar Duravcevic
Yajuro Takashima Gianni Berengo Gardin

Next to the gallery, Shofukuji Temple cradles the tea tree brought to Japan by Zen Master Eisai, the father of Japanese tea. In the tea ceremony, stillness represents silence, clarity, and a distinct presence. The artworks in this exhibition beautifully capture this profound calm and subtlety, reflecting the spirit of BASE GALLERY.

As autumn paints the nearby trees in vibrant hues, we invite you to take a peaceful stroll and immerse yourself in our exhibition.
