BASE GALLERY is proud to present Akio Igarashi’s solo exhibition in nearly 30 years, marking a significant return since his last show with us in 1996.
Throughout his practice, Igarashi has explored the act of painting as both creation and erasure—a continual back-and-forth that reveals the physicality of the surface and the instability of perception.
This exhibition traces the evolution of his work, from his early White Paintings, layered with delicate, tactile brushstrokes, to his recent Scraped Paintings, which push his inquiry into new, compelling territory.
We warmly invite you to experience this rare opportunity to engage with the full arc of Igarashi’s vision.
