About The Gallery

Established in 1986, Base Gallery is a contemporary art space that hosts six to eight curated exhibitions a year. In addition to our exhibitions, we operate a global art dealing business with a vast network across Japan, the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
We handle a diverse range of works—from modern paintings to sculpture and photography. We have a particularly strong focus on contemporary art from Southeast and East Asia, where we are recognized as one of Japan’s leading art galleries.
We believe that art is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Rather than looking at art in isolation, we enjoy exploring where it meets other worlds like music, literature, and fine dining. This vision led us to produce “artegio” in Yufuin, a museum dedicated to the beautiful crossover between music and art.
Since 2004, we have been based in Kayabacho, the heart of Tokyo’s financial district. In this historic neighborhood, we continue to bridge the gap between traditional art and new, creative ideas.
